Cole Coffee is for Coffee, Community and Camaraderie. We’ve been an anchor on the corner of Collage and 63rd in Rockridge for 17 years.
An uncompromising commitment to quality defines proprietor Michael Murphy’s three decades in the coffee business on College and 63rd, including fifteen years of managing Royal Coffee in the same space Cole occupies today. Maintaining intimate relationships with Cole’s importers and roasters is just one aspect of Mike’s dedication to bringing his customers the choicest, freshest coffee and espresso, roasted twice a week and never warehoused.
Desiree Salas-Murphy created a retro vibe for the cafe’s 2017 remodel and brought her artful aesthetics to the Cole café menu. With deep roots in the fashion industry as a designer, sewist, and fashion teacher, she’s provided a warm and inviting atmosphere to the café and has countless creative projects plans for the future.
As Oakland residents of 30+ years, the Murphys thoughtfully steward their piece of local history, cultivating a traditional coffeehouse environment that welcomes artists, families, students, musicians, and any individuals who belong to Oakland’s inimitable cultural tapestry. Come visit this “institution” in person or order a “cup” of nostalgia online.
